Something looks fishy with Gondran's highest score in OOC

Post by amit »

Gondran recently made a score of 456455 but on checking the replay while things seem normal initially but it can be seen at levels 7,8,9 and death level, the blocks are falling much slower than normal and it's tough to get anything over 50 lines in OOC, but Gondran made 63 lines and was able to play normally at death level too

Also people who have made scores of 400K or more have BPM of 43 or more but Gondran's BPM is just 33.4 in his high score. It seems like Gondran would have done something to slow down the speed which made blocks fall much slower than normal

If this score is allowed, it will be very unfair to people like me, Alistair Crowley and Michael Rothe who have made 400K+ on OOC here by the hard way

ok, thats interesting. i used the fake-score detection script - and that found alot of fakescores from gondran.
so he seems to have found a method to bypass fake-score detection. well - then i need to take a deeper look.

thanks for reporting !

i deleted all scores by gondran. i dont have time for checking individual scores.

a message do Gondran: please play fairly without any form of cheating !
otherwise, you destroy the mere purpose of highscores and the fun of this little friendly competition here with blockout.

Hi Herc,

Good to see you're checking this forum once in a while. Also for me it's the first time since a while visiting the forum :(
There are still a lot 'Gondran Scores' in the Extended games.
Your request to him to play fairly apparently did not impress him a lot :(

Above all I wisch you a happy and healthy christmas and a very happy and again healthy new year.
Amit, as you are from India you probably will not celebrate Christmas, but I believe new year for you is also on January the 1st. A happy and healthy new year too!!

Some more fishy scores by Gondran in 5x5x6 Extended and 5x5x7 Extended. I saw the replay and the blocks were falling unusually slowly at level 7. Also his BPM is 34 while in the high score I posted in 5x5x6 Extended, I started at level 6 and needed a BPM of 42 to get the high score but Gondran's BPM was just 34 despite starting at level 7

I don't mind people beating my high score, but the game should be fair and BPM should be atleast 40+

Hi Herc,

I hope your still follow up this forum.

As Amit already concluded, the unsportsmanlike Gondran is active again. It would be good to delete all his scores.

In 2020 you already conluded: "I used the fake-score detection script - and that found alot of fakescores from gondran.
so he seems to have found a method to bypass fake-score detection. well - then i need to take a deeper look."

Until now Gondran seems smarter than the fake-score detection script which perhaps is a challange?

Cheers, Renato.

Gondran's scores should be removed. His BPM is unusually low and the pieces fall slowly in level 7,8,etc while it's impossible to play in those levels under normal conditions. Gondran's scores are unfair to me, SC, MRo and others who have got the high scores in a fair way

I looked at replay of Gondran's high scores and he has somehow stopped the blocks from falling and that helps him get these unusually high scores and also play at level 10 too

Ok, i trust in your observations and deleted Gondrans scores. If Gondran has the courage to contact me and explain the cause, then he can upload again and i will check the replays carefully myself.
Sorry for checking in only occasionally.
Life is busy with job etc. but there will be a time where i can refocus again on fixing issues with the website and stuff.
Also, a database cleanup might be necessary in the foreseeable future. Highscore access is getting slower and slower...
Cheers to all long-time blockout players :-)

Thanks for deleting the cheat scores. The cheat scores are unfair to the ones playing fairly

Not just Gondran, but there are others like him too. I noticed Kakar who posted high scores in 5x5x17 and 5x5x18 Extended some years ago is also playing in the same way by reducing the speed. The BPM in his scores is also unusually low and was about 20. Anyone who plays fairly will have a BPM of atleast 35

Kakar's scores here are also same as Gondran. I saw his replay and he was making the bricks fall slowly. BPM's of less than 30 with level 7/8 starts is always suspicious and anyone who gets 300K+ in Extended and has BPM of less than 30 will raise suspicions. In his high score of 416088 in 5x5x17 Extended, Kakar has a BPM of only 19.5 and just like Gondran, even he managed to make the bricks fall slowly

Hoping all such cheat scores are removed and people get high scores by the hard way
