Scoring Explained

Post by jlp_38 »

Hi there B)

I added a new page concerning the score calculation here .It can help to improve your performance. Let me know if you think that this page is not clear enough.

Have fun with BlockOut II

But do not play too much :blink: otherwise I add a clock in the game ;) And a bip every 2 Hours.

I used 3DS Max.

Hope that the pieces are well identifiable. I had to make 48x48 icons to avoid a too big table.

with DROP you mean dropping the piece as early as possible? i.e. dropping it while it is in the top layer?

Excellent analysis Fred ! :)

I\'m going to add an advanced score details
web page based on replay data. I think i can
produce automatically result you get. The idea of making a pie chart is great.

Lots of work in perspective, I have to work on the game too....

I was wondering if the scoring in the remake is exactly the same as it was in the original?

I realize I\'m not as quick as I used to be but I distinctly remember getting scores of 220K-250K back in 1992/93.

J.

P.S. Do you get extra points for an empty pit?

Post edited by: JohnVdC, at: 2007/07/19 22:41

I\'m currently working on a detailed score analysis page. I\'ve ended the pie chart and it is already interesting to see how block points are
important.

I made the chart for 3DM and OOC, not FF as there is a bug.

This page is available from the online score db, you can access it by displaying the statistics popup and then click \"More\".
This page is still under construction.

cool! found it.

two comments: instead (or additional) of time per piece, do a blocks per minute. this is a standard measure of tetris / blockout playing speed.

if possible, you could also add the keys per piece / block measuremen, i.e. how many keys were pressed until the piece was finally dropped.

see an example highscore list for 2d tetris and what are important measurements here:

a http://www.tetrisconcept.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=616

something that i would like to discuss here in the forum:

how would you most likely call a blockout piece?

* tile
* block
* piece

?? i vote for piece.
