it looks like imagelib uses some assembler code to accelerate image loading. try to turn assembler optimization off (must be some #ifdef).
if that does not help, please wait till jeanluc is back from holidays in a few days.

do you have the opengl packet installed ? i dont know linux very well, but i remember i had to manually install opengl sdk or development package using yast..

yes, i think its better to wait for jean luc.
and dont forget to tell me if you did succeed to compile a 64 bit version on Gentoo, i am happy to add a tar.gz on this website, so that other can download your compiled version, too.
p.s. you need to get in contact with jean luc anyway, because only he has the small code portion that handles highscore encryption. without that code portion, you cannot submit your highscores online.
