BlockOut II available on Linux

Post by jlp_38 »

Hi there, B)

I finally ended the Linux (Intel) version of BlockOut II. You can download it from sourceforge and soon from www.blockout.net.

Thanks to let me know if you get troubles with this
new release.

Have fun with BlockOut II

really cool! could you make a small screenshot showing blockout II running in a x-window ( i.e. a screenshot that makes it evident that Blockout II is now available for linux) ? - then i would write a new headline for the blockout.net page. i have no linux at hand, otherwise i would do it by myself.

how did you solve the network stuff ? wich libraries? SDL_net ? by the way, on www.gamedev.net is an article-series about linux-development - maybe there is still some stuff in it that could improve the linux version

http://www.gamedev.net/reference/progra ... ogramming2

anyway - great achievement. i never had the energy to port my own games to linux...

how about a freshmeat entry for blockout II ?

http://freshmeat.net/

this could boost awareness about blockout II...
if you have no time, i could do it for you, too.

Hi,

I post a screenshot of my Ubuntu 7.04.

Anyway, for the network stuff, i modified wget to support HTTP PUT requests. It seems to work fine.
I will try to find 5 minutes to make post on http://freshmeat.net/

thanks for the image, i have made a small frontpage news flash.
by the way - i currently have trouble downloading the linux release.. either \"ovh.dl.sourceforge.net
( Paris, France - Europe )\" is down or my internet connection sucks (again). i will try again tomorrow and then add it to the main download list (ionfiles)

thats cool! i found your submission in the database, but strangely it does not show up on the frontpage...
i thought every new project becomes listed on the frontpage. but anyway, lets hope that this adds some linux fans to the gamers of blockout II.

or - does someone know any other big linux website that should know about blockout ?

i found two worthy places where to submit blockoutII:

http://www.libsdl.org/news.php and http://happypenguin.org/. jeanluc, would you like to submit to there?

i already submitted news to http://www.linuxgames.com/, it will hopefully be reviewed and put on startpage soon.

That\'s cool :)

Blockout II is not on the freshmeat homepage may be because i didn\'t make a release for the project.
I added one. Will see if the project will be shown...

Yes, why not. I didn\'t have time now. If you can do it
it would be cool otherwise i do it tomorrow.
